Nolan Averbuch

Nolan is a passionate CFII and MEI who enjoys sharing his love of aviation with others. Before becoming a pilot, he spent six years as a guide and outdoor educator across the mountain west, including expedition backpacking in the High Sierra, ice climbing in the Rockies, and ski guiding in the Pacific Northwest. After completing his primary training in Bellingham and advanced ratings in Nevada, he now serves as Chief Instructor at Sierra Flight Training. His favorite teaching topics include risk management, aircraft systems, and the human side of decision-making.

Andy Hines

Andy developed his passion for aviation early, flying pipeline patrol with his father and attending airshows throughout childhood. After years as a general contractor, he pursued aviation professionally and earned his CFI, CFII, and MEI certificates. As a multi-engine instructor, Andy enjoys helping pilots build confidence and proficiency in complex aircraft while creating a supportive training environment. Outside aviation, he enjoys riding Sea-Doos, exploring trails in his RZR, skiing, and spending time outdoors with family and friends.

Sean Torbett
Gold Seal CFI • CFII • MEI
After several years in the U.S. Army jumping out of airplanes, not flying them, and a second career in television engineering, Sean now runs small local businesses focused on flight instruction. He is a Gold Seal flight instructor with more than 3,500 flight hours, over 2,800 hours of instruction given, and experience in more than 20 aircraft types. Sean also teaches tailwheel aircraft, usually in a Super Decathlon out of Carson City, and provides currency, additional rating, and owner-pilot transition instruction in complex, high-performance, normally aspirated, and turbocharged aircraft.

Ben Roller

Ben’s love for aviation began as a young child watching his first air show. Upon graduating from UNR with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, he started to pursue his dreams of flying. He recently hung up his 9-5 full time Engineering job and is now devoted full-time to flight training. Ben is a CFI, CFII, and MEI with over a thousand hours of experience. Nothing makes him happier than helping students reach their aviation goals. When not in the cockpit, you can find him exploring and enjoying our beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains.

Kiera Grange
CFI • CFII • MEI
After living in Maryland for several years, Kiera found her way to Nevada, where Reno’s airplanes and aviation community kept her flying after her discovery flight. She completed all of her ratings out of RNO and has since become an instructor who enjoys teaching and helping aspiring pilots reach their aviation goals. When she is not in an airplane, you will likely find her outdoors skiing, hiking, swimming, or enjoying one of Nevada’s many other activities.

Court Salzman

Court Salzman is a CFII based in Reno, Nevada, where she completed all of her flight training. With nearly 300 hours in Piper Arrow N1957T, she specializes in helping pilots build confidence and proficiency in complex aircraft. When she is not instructing with Sierra Flight Training, Court flies for a charter operator, bringing real-world experience from a variety of operating environments into her teaching. Her goal is to provide practical, safety-focused instruction that prepares pilots for retractable-gear flying and beyond.
